How to choose the best photo for a fridge magnet
Almost any phone photo makes a lovely magnet. A few small choices make the difference between good and great.
Use the original photo
Upload the photo straight from your phone’s camera roll rather than a screenshot or a photo saved from social media, which are much smaller. Our editor warns you if a photo is too small to print sharply.
Match the shape
Choose portrait for a tall photo and landscape for a wide one, so you are not cropping anyone out. For hearts and circles, a photo with the faces near the middle works best.
Keep faces off the edge
A sliver around the edge is trimmed when the magnet is cut, so keep heads and faces a little in from the border.
Finish it with emojis
Once your photo is in place, tap Emojis to add hearts, stars, a party popper or an Aussie favourite like a koala or kangaroo. Drag them to an empty corner so they don’t cover faces, and drag a corner to resize them.
Moving and zooming your photo
Your photo always fills the whole magnet, so there are no gaps. If you can only slide it up and down, that is because the photo is taller than the magnet: zoom in a little and it will move in every direction.
