Save the date magnets: wording ideas and when to send them
A save the date has one job: make sure your guests keep the day free. A magnet with your photo does that job better than a card, because it lives on the fridge until the wedding.
When to send save the dates
Six to twelve months before the wedding is typical. Send them earlier for a destination wedding, a long weekend, or if lots of guests need to travel.
What to include
- Your names
- The date
- The town, region or venue
- “Formal invitation to follow”
- Your wedding website, if you have one
Wording ideas
- “Save the date · Sam & Alex · 14.03.2027 · Hunter Valley · Invitation to follow”
- “We’re getting married! Keep the date free: 14 March 2027, Byron Bay”
- “Sam & Alex are tying the knot · 14.03.27 · Details to come”
Keep it short and let the photo do the talking. An engagement photo or a candid snap of the two of you works beautifully.
